About Sonia
Sonia Hernández is a classically trained guitarist born in Lima, Peru and now living in Vienna, Austria. Sonia studied at the National Conservatory of Music of Lima and graduated from the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid, Spain, and Mannes College of Music/New School (Master’s of Music) in New York.
New Peruvian music
She is currently performing new compositions and arrangements of traditional music from Latin America, especially recent music by composers from Peru. (Video and audio of some of those compositions will be posted on this page, below.)
Performance
Sonia has performed at Casa de America in Madrid, Spain; at Carnegie Hall’s Weil Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, Americas Society (NYC), Columbia University, Rutgers University and New School University in the United States; and elsewhere in Canada, Spain, Peru and Austria.
